Dr. Charles L. Ford, lll, DMD, was born and raised in St. Petersburg, FL. He graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1970, then attended St. Petersburg Junior College and the University of South Florida. In 1972 he was one of 24 dental students who was selected for the Charter Class at the University of Florida. He was one of the original 18 students that graduated in 1976.
Dr. Ford returned to his home town of St. Petersburg, where he was an associate dentist of Dr. Charles Martin for five years. ln 1981 he opened his solo practice and has remained in the private practice of dentistry since that time. ln 1986 his office was built at its present location.
Dr. Ford is a member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the West Coast Dental Association, the Pinellas County Dental Association, and the American College of Dentists. He is a past president of the Pinellas County Dental Association, and has served as chairman of many committees, including Children’s Dental Health Month, Peer Review and Ethics, where he has been the chairman for over twenty years. He is currently serving as the treasurer of the state section of the American College of Dentists.
Dr. Ford has actively pursued many hours of continuing education, with special emphasis on advanced restorative and cosmetic dentistry. He has been asked to mentor study groups interested in these fields. He has been able to restrict his practice to primarily these areas, and considers himself fortunate to have both an associate that performs all phases of general dentistry and a board certified periodontist on staff at his office.
Dr. Ford has been married to his wife Beth for almost 30 years. They have two children who were born at the same hospital as he was. Both children are receiving post graduate education in other branches of medicine. Dr. Ford enjoys fishing, music both as a performer and listener, disc golf and salt water aquaculture.
